I wrote these words as a healing balm—to honor what was, what is, and what will be, with gentleness and compassion.
If you’ve been quietly carrying the heaviness of reality, this is for you.
If you’re in the mood for an auditory experience, I’ve included a recorded version of the piece for your listening pleasure!
She stands in front of her garden
And looks on with peace and gratitude.
There are areas that are blooming -
Buds and sprouts peek through.
There are areas that are standing strong -
Roots so deep
That not even the wildest winds can shake them.
There are areas that are empty -
Something was once there and now is not.
There are areas that are invisible to the eye -
Alive with seeds, blessed with hope and new beginnings.
What stood before her was
Not the vision she held when she first embarked on her journey.
No.
What stood before her could only be
The magic and wonder of
Radically accepting what lies before you with an open heart.
As she drank in the rich, full bodied charm of her creation,
To the universe, she whispered,
“Uketamo”
“I humbly accept with an open heart.”
If you feel moved to, I’d love to know where this met you today 🫶
